Alloc Init?
Alloc Init is a programming term. It's not specific to Mac programming, just programming in general. It stands for "allocate, initialize". When making objects, you have to allocate your memory, and then initialize it for use.
Who is this guy?
My name is Kevin Nygaard, and I am a college student studying for a degree in electrical engineering. Pizza is a great food that I enjoy :). I mainly use my 2.2 GHz MBP, where all my programming is done, and occasionally boot back to my Windows roots for a game or two.
I started programming late around 9th grade with the lovely language of AppleScript, I've been developing ever since then. I eventually grew out of AS and had to move on to a real language: Objective C. I enjoy writing Cocoa applications, but I also enjoy writing shell scripts or other little tidbit things like that.
Xcode is my weapon of choice when battling applications. It's great, free, and is a very nice IDE. But when there is serious work to be done, I unsheathe vi from it's crystal scabbard and cut effortlessly through data.
Outside of programming, I like to play ping pong and practice the violin.
